The Wonders of the Lightweight Wheel Chair

By A. M. Kelly

Even if you have been using the traditional wheel chair for many years, the moment you see a lightweight wheel chair for an affordable price, you would probably want to switch to one. In fact it is not only who will do that, simply because light wheel chairs are one of the most popular wheel chairs out there. At a glance, there seems to be no difference between the conventional wheel chair and the lightweight one, but when you look deeper you can see the difference.

The lightweight wheel chair offers nothing much of a difference; it is still the same old manual wheel chair, although these days there are many electric lightweight wheel chairs as well. But when you talk about real lightweight ones, the electric wheel chair is out of discussion, for they are as heavy as the conventional ones, with all the gadgets and circuitry.

Quickie – Extremely Light

There are many different types of lightweight wheel chairs as well. And one of the most famous one is the quickie type. The name suggests the function; which is to be very mobile and convenient. A low end quickie lightweight wheel chair can cost about $200 to $300, and a high end one can cost up to $800. The price may look like its very expensive, but actually it’s all worth it in the end.

This type of lightweight wheel chair is particularly made of aluminum, unlike the conventional ones which are made from steel or iron. The fabrication of this wheel chair is made very simple and light, but this does not compromise all the basic features that necessarily supposed to be there.

The main reason why this type of wheel chair was invented was for the disabled people themselves; to allow them to move around much easier, and without the need for anyone to push the chair. That is why it is the best solution for mobility as we know. And besides that, this type of wheel chair actually makes those who are active do not feel much crippled.

Some people, despite the fact that they are disabled are still confidently active in their lives, especially in sports such as basketball, tennis, badminton, table tennis, and so on. This lightweight wheel chair is thus the best solution for these people, simply because with this lightweight wheel chair, they will feel like everyone else. Better still, most of the lightweight wheel chairs these days are foldable, so you can bring them anywhere you want!
